Reset Fortigate unit with Factory Setting

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute factory setting”


Reset Fortigate admin Password

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with Maintainer user Name and Password

User Name = maintainer

Password = bcpb + serial number of the firewall = + # (remember CAPS letters)

4. Type the Command

config system admin

edit admin

set password <psswrd>

end

5. Execute the command “execute factory setting”


Ping Command in Fortigate Firewall

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute ping-options source <IP Address>”


Trace route Command in Fortigate Firewall

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute traceoute<IP Address or Domain Name”

Shutdown Fortigate Box

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute shutdown <“Comments”>


Restart Fortigate Box

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute reboot <“Comments”>

Set or Get Fortigate Unit System Time

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the Command “execute time [<time_str>]”

where time_str is hh:mm:SS

hh can be 00 to 23

mm can be 00 to 59

ss can be 00 to 59


Set or Get Fortigate Unit System Date

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “execute date <date_str>”

where date_str is yyyy-mm-dd

YYYY can be 2001 to 20050

mm can be 01 to 12

dd can be 01 to 31


Get System OS status Information

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “get system status”


Get System Hardware Status Information

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the command “get hardware status”


Change IP Address of the Interface

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the following Comments

config system interface

edit <interface_name>

set interface <port_name>

set ip <interface_ipv4mask>

set allowaccess <access_types>

Check current User Sessions

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the following Comments “get system admin list”


Status of the currently logged in admin and their session.

1. Connect to the firewall via the Console port on the back of the unit. This is done either by a Serial cable or a RJ-45 to Serial cable.

2. Start HyperTrm.exe (Hyper Terminal)

3. Login with user name and password.

4. Execute the following Comments “get system admin status”
